8 things I learned in 2008

Here are 8 things I learned in 2008
1) Growing up and growing old are not the same- I learned that there are many people who falsely assume that just because they are a year older they are wiser, but thats not always the case age does not always translate to wisdom or maturity. I know plenty of 50 year old immature people who whine like a baby. I just don't want grow old but I want grow up. Immaturity, insecurity and being a killer of unity leads to obscurity.
2) Your Attitude will determine your altitude- I learned that maintaining a great attitude is important and sometimes you have to appreciate yourself, kinda like when God created the heavens and earth and commented several times 'It was good'. I sometimes in 2008 had look at somethings and say 'it was good' even though no one else cared or notice. I once heard the Lion is not the fastest, strongest or largest animal in the jungle but the Lion has a lineage (that's why we have to train our children and not just love them) and attitude that makes him the king of the jungle...but the Lion also has.....
3) Your aptitude will determine your longitude- The lion has a dominating attitude and also a great aptitude (ability) to hunt. Its not just who you know (great attitude attracts great people) that counts but what you know that will effect people who you know that also counts (skill impacts this...don't be the weak link in your circle or you run the risk to be out of the loop/circle)
the bible says a skilled man will stand before kings not just mean and obscure men (Prov 22:29).
4) We must be patient and progressive- Sometimes things don't happen as fast as you will like but no matter what speed your approaching your goals you must be determine to forge ahead, even if its inch by inch don't just stand there cry and ask why but ask yourself 'Why not'.
5) Don't give the haters, border bullies or vision burglars anymore energy than they deserve- Sometimes the more we resist and insist the more they persist. Don't feed them any energy by constantly complaining, explaining, overreacting, rehearsing and rehashing our encounters with them all the time. Deal with it and continue forward, sometimes critics are people who don't create so they want to sound like experts often with no true expertise or experience or they maybe jealous of your ministry, history and geography and the mystery of why God chose you in the first place...... remember opinions are like......
6) Friends and good relationships are often the currency of a rich soul- I'm blessed because many leaders don't have any true lifelong friends or good family relationships and I get to work side by side with my friends and family all the while expanding the Kingdom's spiritual family.
7) When your challenged by trials ask your self are you having a break-down or a breakthrough? - Our setbacks are often our springboard for our comebacks and today's mess will be your tomorrow's message. If you are experiencing a breakdown than ask yourself what was the door it entered or where was the weakest link in your life that allowed this setback to take place. The bible says a wise man know the state of his flock, we must learn to understand (stand under the ledge of knowing God's word then you can integrate this knowledge and then it will produce wisdom which is knowledge in action)
8) Its important to Pray big, read great books and visit great places- Every year I realize more and more that prayer should be our steering wheel and not our spare wheel, Readers are leaders (especially in the ministry because I believe the Holy Spirit can draw out whats been put in) and its important to travel and expand your horizons.

Happy New Year
